Bio
Hi, I’m Gareth Hadfield — a web specialist based in Penrith, NSW.
I build things on the web. WordPress sites, custom plugins, compliance platforms, and the occasional mobile game. I’ve been doing this for over a decade — writing code, solving problems, and figuring out how things work.
Background
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Computing Science from the University of Technology Sydney and a Bachelor of Ministry from Morling College. That combination — tech and theology — is unusual, but it means I’m equally comfortable talking about REST APIs, content strategy, or what makes a faith-based organisation tick.
What I Do
- WordPress development — custom themes, block themes, and plugins. Mini Preview has been downloaded 1,500+ times on WordPress.org.
- Web content management — CMS platforms, SEO, analytics, and accessibility (WCAG).
- Compliance systems — backend development, system architecture, and platform integrations for Creating Safe Spaces, an online training and compliance platform serving Baptist Churches across NSW and ACT. Designed and built the Safe Church Health Check compliance assessment section from scratch. Also developing SafeOpdiv, a WordPress compliance plugin.
- Full-stack development — C#/.NET, PHP, Python, JavaScript, REST APIs, and SQL.
- AI-assisted development — leveraging LLMs and AI tools to accelerate development workflows and solve complex problems.
Current Project
I’m building Word Series, a real-time multiplayer word game using Godot and C# with a service-based backend designed for cloud deployment.
